What's a quart? Is it some kind of quantum particle spin, or something?

Re: What's Grinding Your Gears Today?
Nikki: thanks so much. THAT video shows how to do it.....the combo of where to cut and yet still with the hitting the fruit to dislodge the seeds. I'm sure what the video shows is what the experts mean. I got "close to" that result with full cuts, but the hitting the fruit they way the video shows is much quicker. You can see its still kinda "fiddly." The juice is very nice though and we are getting free Poms right now...most people leave them be, but now.............KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.
I can see a heavier weight knife would be a help and maybe even one with a dull edge so as not to lose a finger? I would've tried persimmons as well but all that were left shere a bit over ripe or spoiled in part.....so I'll wait for next year.
Factory wise: I can see a "crusher" with a sifter getting the job done. Trial and error for just what size the groves and mesh should be. That would be fun to play with. In an alter life of my own, I think machine design would be an interesting field.
We have a lot of blackberries growing wild around here. Easy to pick, easy to juice. Poms....a whole different story.
Thanks again.

Re: What's Grinding Your Gears Today?
Someone I never met died.
My father curls in a seniors league, and for the past 22 years I've been typing up the member lists and curling schedules for his league. One of the women passed away last week. I've never met her, but I know her name very well -- I've typed it at least 88 times, probably more. Other names have come and gone from the lists, but hers stood out because it was different. I won't say what it was, but imagine if you came across someone named Marie Antoinette or Fulla Crabcakes and you'll get the idea. It was a memorable name. And her husband was also a curler, and they were always on the same team. Now it's just his name, all alone. (Bob Antoinette or George Crabcakes. Doesn't have the same ring to it, but it'll always remind me of her.)
I feel a loss of something that I never even had, and I'm not quite sure what it was. It's a bit similar to seeing a dead porcupine in the middle of the road. "Oh that poor porcupine, I'll miss it whenever I don't see it again, by which I mean whenever I see another porcupine and realise it isn't this porcupine, which has died."

I ran over an echidna one night. Got it with both wheels. It was like driving over a brick. Boomboom! I went back to see if it was injured or maybe had a joey. It was male and both its eyes had popped out. Instakill. Next day I had a flat.

My brother tried to adopt a porcupine when he was a kid. Fed it every day when it showed up in the back yard. Named it "Spike". Doctors removed 62 quills from him when the two didn't along that well.

was called to jury selection for a murder trial....5 yr. girl's throat slashed by mom's ex allegedly....we had to answer 14 pages of questions on our beliefs on death penalty, the jury system, religious views, spouses views, tv and movie preferences, church affiliations, fav and most hated celebrities....ridiculous....why should they be able to nitpick jury members like that ????

Re: What's Grinding Your Gears Today?
To find unreasonable bias. did they ask about anything woo?.....other than religion in general.
14 pages?? Hah, hah. My information is from TV: seems to me all it used to be was a verbal challenge to the entire pool: "Do any of you have any issue that would prevent you from considering only the evidence presented here today and following the directions of the Judge." Took one minute.
Any questions about "Jury Nullification" meaning that you WILL FOLLOW THE LAW as told to you by the judge and not some moral code of your own? I understand you can be jailed if you inform the jurors they can do whatever they want too.......in violation of the oath you take.

Re: What's Grinding Your Gears Today?
I've been in selection questioning before, not for murder trial...asked only a few questions, no 14 pages...but why should they be able to hand pick jurors??....it's unfair and biased already,....they also asked if you want to be on the jury...said no...most would say no...how stupid...

Unfair in what way, biased in what way?
The other side is looking at jail time or death sentence? Seems to me the bar should be pretty high on who is allowed to sit in judgment.

if you know their beliefs it's biased ..should be random selection...not sure no is enough...just stupid they would ask that anyway...most of the people have heard of the crime too....likely formed judgments already...

I sense.............you are mostly looking at the issue from YOUR perspective as a juror/citizen. But the relevant context is the rights of the accused.
Try it.

still biased...the focus in the media has been the child...was at first day in kindergarten, then killed...sheriff's dept. spoke on the horribleness of the crime, am sure the public is about the child....
