Gun religion.

Postby Lance Kennedy » Mon Feb 01, 2016 2:30 am

The Church of the Gun
Out of many comes one
For if bullets do fly
Let all but one die.

The prophet is Trump
The voter the chump
Freedom to buy
Let all but one die.

Murder for hobby
No British bobby
Can stop the sad sigh
Let all but one die.

Stand up for your right
The gun gives the might
The Liberals will try
Let all but one die.

For lovers of more esoteric forms of art, I present ZARDOZ and his godly advice "The Gun is good"

(....and yes, that is Sean Connery)

Zardoz elaborates, later in the film : "The gun is good. The penis is evil"

Sorry, I'm already a members of the First Church of Salvation through Superior Firepower.
I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:
Spoiler:
1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things.

I love that movie.

I am slightly disappointed that no one seems to have seen and commented on the pun in my poem.

I've read it three times now. I don't get it.

didn't see the pun either.

The relationships you wax about are too personal to yourself. Plus, it started with "Church" and with Gun, two subject that immediately clog my moral arteries.

Post your pun...... use the Spoiler function if you want to keep everyone else in suspense?

The pun was not intended to be funny, but serious. It is based on the American motto, E Pluribus Unum.
The second line of the poem is a direct translation of this motto. The final line of each verse is an alternative translation, as might be done by a particularly rabid and over enthusiastic gun nutter.

Oh................. well.............. that is not a pun. Its an allusion.

We think with words, and flower with Ideas.

Good idea. Labels don't matter, unless you want to be understood.

And I quote.

"The study reveals some stark truths about living and dying in the United States. When compared to other high-income nations, as an American you are:•
Seven times more likely to be violently killed•
Twenty-five times more likely to be violently killed with a gun•
Six times more likely to be accidentally killed with a gun•
Eight times more likely to commit suicide using a gun•
Ten times more likely to die from a firearm death overall"

The Church of the Gun deals in human sacrifice, very large scale!

Our sniper, whose art is his weapon
Hollowed be thy bullets
To kingdom come, thanks to my gun
Shoot first, as it is in Hollywood
Give us good aim
As we spray them with lead
And help the trespassers as we don't forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into regulation
And deliver us back to the medieval.
Aim, men.

I am thinking of joining the Church of the Nuclear Mushroom. No,no, not the bomb club itself, rather the radioactive fungus worshiping congregation who consume Amanita Muscaria grown on the ground exposed to radioactivity through various means...nuclear explosions and accidents, just like Chernobyl and Nevada and so on.

You've got to boil the sucker first you see, otherwise you get killed by the toxins in the mushroom. After that it's just the radioactivity of the sacrament that seems to worry the non-believers.
When I feel like exercising, I just lie down until the feeling goes away. Paul Terry
