I just found out: Why I'm so Frickin Happy: & so can you.

Postby bobbo_the_Pragmatist » Fri May 04, 2018 7:39 am

I am an inveterate procrastinator. My whole life I have "loved" planning a project out. So much so...by the time it comes to putting shovel to dirt: I've lost interest. There have been strong good and bad about this, but I've never thought that much about it. I'll do the project "when" I really have to. From adding another bedroom to the house, to the term paper, to filing my tax returns: always the very last moment. What gives? .......and why aren't I upset about it?

Turns out..........the contemplation of a task is more pleasurable than the actual undertaking. I don't even care to read the link more closely to see if I have this wrong: because I like it. You may too?

I think that is a bit generous, but don't know how much. I do believe that a good statement of the problem/issue is a large % of finding an answer to the conundrum.

I was always amused at shooting down really stupid projects by asking: "What if....." //// and "usually" I was not even identified at the enemy of the project. People think "their" answers to the question is the brainstorm.

Ha, ha........stooopid people. They aren't all Republicans.

Assuming your reference to ostrich behavior is on purpose: well done. I'm being diffident as head under pillow is one of my favorite positions.

Ostriches don't actually do that, so it's technically not "ostrich behaviour".

I just Googled 'ostrich on a pillow' and the results showed a giant, padded helmet-looking thing.

And bobbo, I do fancy myself a bird fancier. Birds are beautiful creatures and I fancy them with honey mustard or ranch sauce.

It is my claim that ostriches don't use pillows in the way described.

Dogs, however, have been known to hide their heads underneath beds.

Friend of mine got a Great Dane for home protection and found out it just loved everybody. So he put a bucket of doggie treats by the door. The door opening was the signal for the dog to get a treat and he would go storming down the hall. If you weren't ready for a very large dog charging you the effect was what the owner had originally hoped for.

I did recently mention I had a labrador sharpei mix. Dog was entirely friendly to our other dog and to wifey and me. Never trained or did a thing to that dog. Both dogs slept in bed with us. One 3AM "Genghis" BOLTED off the bed and raced out of the room waking both of us. We didn't think more of it as he came back a few minutes later and laid down. After the morning coffee....I went to the laundry room where the dog door to outside was. Blood on the floor and a path of blood outside as well.

I assume someone tried to sneak into our house and Genghis did what as a Chinese Temple Guard Dog he was bred to do. He earned his snacks for that week.....and I'd get another lab/sharpei mix in the future. Getting the mix avoids all the skin problems sharpeis are known for.

Hey....I just motivated myself to give the issue a look. I'd love a lab/sharpei MINIATURE mix. 20 pounds of dog is about all I want. The fox looking dog is that size and cuter....but long hair. Pros and Cons to either choice. Looks like another issue for me to think about, plan, procrastinate and stay so Frickin Happy. Ha, ha. (SEE!!!!)

Well, thats close Aztexan but the OP counsels that to be happy you should only "think about" what kind of dog you would best like=====>but NEVER actually get one. Its the contemplation/dream that gives happiness, not stinking lousy reality that spoils everything.

but to your point: With an adequate back yard and a dog door: there is no {!#%@} cleaning, and lots of dogs don't bark naturally, or are easily trained not to. Some don't shed hair.

So.......what we can think about is: breeding dogs with all those qualities.....and making a miniature model.

I'm already happier now than when I woke up this morning.

I was going to skim it for any positive advice about nirvana but the first line includes: "How Happy is Too Happy?" which I already know is when you wake up in jail............so, don't need any bummers.
