I fell across the HBO series "Barry" created and starring Bill Halder of Sat Night Live. Like Last Man on Earth, seems quite a few SNL alums can't get movie roles, so they are creating their own vehicles? I didn't like Halder on SNL...but the series was worth watching. Season one is 8 half hour shows. I binged it last night.

It has a theme I like: anyone learning life can be different than what you have come to think of it. aka: fish out of water, aspects of coming of age, etc. This time, its a Hit Man that wants to go straight "Right Now" but he keeps finding out that killing people is his default position. Like another excellent show "Episodes" it mocks the Hollywood world of actor want to bes, but in this case, the good and the bad.

Thanks jo....I thought it might be. also, its not a movie per se but its just like a movie when you binge watch. Ha, ha...the last movie I think I "liked" was Blade Runner, 1 or 2 Terminators, 1 or 2 Alien. Maybe after that stage was set, the newer movies just don't offer anything "new" and I'm not attracted to car chases, explosions, special effects, or sword play in the future? ................ So, I gotta say and recommend that quite a few of the tv series are actually quite good, especially if you bunch them together movie length.

Whats that? BOOKS you say?===the pictures don't move.....although that should be coming along in virtual reality any time now.

Deadpool 2

Meh. It was OK. Nothing on the first. I can't think of any standout moments. I certainly didn't bust a gut laughing. Just a few chuckles here and there.

I'd really rather have spent the price of admission to see the first one on a big screen again.

Deadpool 3 needs to have Samuel L. Jackson as Blind Al's boyfriend.

Or sister.

Hard to decide.

I'm gonna sign-off from Hollywood for good. They've lost the plot. And I mean that quite literally.

Watch an anime, instead.

Deadpool 2

I liked it.

Recommendation: See it if you like superhero stuff.

Hereditary

I liked it. That was an unusual movie. It moved at a glacial pace, unfortunately. However, the payoff was good.

Recommendation: See it if you like horror movies.

Solaris, from 1971

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069293/

It's an ok movie. It has a good premise, but it moves too slowly. It's like a French art film, but in Russian, and less sucky. It moves too slowly, and very little actually happened. I did like the ending though.

Recommendation: Don't bother.

Saw the Solo movie today with my youngest son. It was OK. My son liked The Last Jedi more, I agree with him. Not nearly as good as Rogue One.

I guess see this one if you are a fan of the genre. It set up a rather interesting plot line for another movie, not necessarily a Solo movie but something in the Star Wars Universe.

I think Disney is making a mistake with these prequels. I’d like to see something different within the Star Wars Universe, maybe something with the Old Republic or dealing with the Sith and Jedi from an ancient time. I think that could give us something more original.

I heard they are planning a prequel involving Boba Fett. I think they will try to squeeze the franchise for as many dollars as they can get away with to the point of losing its luster, but a Boba Fett back story sounds awesome.

If they do something like that I prefer a Vader story covering the period from Revenge of the Sith to the New Hope.

Haven't they already covered that? He was just a rogue clone trooper, or something? And then he gets eaten by a sandworm. Who wants to see that?

Aztexan, apparently.

Tho', there's something to be said for having a private cinema showing, like when I went to see Ender's Game. :)

Bobba was created by the Camino(sp) cloners for Jango Fett. He got Dad's armor when the Jedi snuffed Dad on Geonosis.

Seriously, try to keep up.

I don't mean his back story, I meant they were making a movie about the life of Boba Fett before we met him in Empire Strikes Back. And since all of this is beyond my control, who knows what it would be about and if it's more than just a rumor?

I saw Pacific Rim 2 yesterday. It was pretty good, for the most part. The ending was dumb -- sci fi doesn't do science very well. They left it open for a third movie and declared what it might be about.

If you want a dual pilot mecha show, you should watch the anime, Darling in the Franxx. The pilot system has the guy riding the girl like a motorbike in doggy-style.

Resident Evil: Final Chapter came right out and said it wasn't the final chapter at the end. "The virus has to propagate around the planet blah blah blah."

OK. I looked that show up. To me it is the most thinly disguised sex orientated show for children I have ever seen.....for 2018.

When I was a kiddie we had a 1963 Japanese TV show called the "Amazing Three" ("Wonder Three") with a sexy rabbit. It really does seem to be an ongoing Japanese cultural phenomena. :D

I believe that show is geared towards adults. I’ll bet those who appreciate dirty jokes with their mecha.

Saw that movie for the second time. Here's my first review of the movie in this thread, which I still agree with.

I don't have much to add in an additional review of the movie except some screenshots.

Solo wasn't bad. It wasn't good, either.

It's Disney-approved kid-safe.

What got on my nerves was the contrivance. That's the word. Trying to retrofit Han's one-liners from the original movies...

Yeah. One word. Contrived.

Would not watch again.

Solo was important for showing how Han made the Kessel Run in only fourteen parsecs.

My brain shut down during that bit. I was like, yeah, get it over already. Lie back and think of England in CG.

{!#%@}. Spoilers...

Spoiler:
I kinda liked the fembot, and I was happy she got disintegrated. She was annoying, but sassy droids are fun. Like R2. And it explains why the Millennial Falcon is such a bitch to drive. You have to constantly argue with it. Just {!#%@} go will you?

I'm still mourning that they killed that battle droid in, was it Rouge Swoon? I can't remember. But that was the only character they had going for them.

18 times total in theaters when it came out. So yes. I was there, man. I was there.

I watched Brade Runna 2049 yesterday. I liked it. I mean, it was weird, but I liked it.

I kept wondering, "Why is this AI doing this weird thing?" rather than, "Why did the writer make this AI do this weird thing?" To me, that's always a sign that I'm enjoying the movie.
