Sawney Bean

Postby Telstar » Thu Feb 14, 2013 8:10 pm

While leafing through an old issue of Fortean Times (#195)*, I came across an article about everyone's favourite Scottish Cannibal Clan leader Sawney Bean. I thought this topic would make for an excellent Monster Talk episode.

* My copy bought in Canada has a sticker indicating that #195 was the May 2005 issue. Underneath the sticker, the cover has April 2005. I just thought I'd mention it if forum readers would like to track down the issue. By the by, the cover story is Hell Hounds: In Search of Britain's Phantom Black Dogs.

Absolutely! We've gotten Springheeled Jack and we need Sawney Beane and Sweeney Todd to complete the set!

When the Brits say "keep a stiff upper lip", I thought they meant something else.
. . . with the satisfied air of a man who thinks he has an idea of his own because he has commented on the idea of another . . . - Alexandre Dumas 'The Count of Monte Cristo"

There is no statement so absurd that it has not been uttered by some philosopher. - Cicero
