I guess there was one idea of bringing hippos in to Florida to raise for meat. Or was that rhinos?

 But that didn't go over too well, it seems.

Even now people seem concerned about introducing them:

I've heard that hippos can interbreed with the water buffalo in Africa. If that's the case then it's a matter of time until they cross with buffalo coming out of Yellowstone Park. Our western grasslands and waterways do not have the carrying capacity to support the hippalo, and I say get rid of this invader NOW!

I thought buffalo was pretty good chow... But if they're scared of them hippalos, maybe they should try... people.

Won't they use up too much of the food? I'm sure I recell them being described, as twice hungry.

Yeah, but I think they only eat marbles, or ball bearings, and sometimes toddlers' fingers.

A healthy, varied diet indeed. I invented a game, similar to the one mentioned.

You put balls in a bowl and punch the hell out of it. You win by default. Because only one person in four is likely to be crazy enough to attack a dishful of marbles, bare-knuckled.

I called it "Miniature Petanque". Didn't get approval. Something about "Pediatric Radial Artery Hemorrhage" concerns, and the fact that it was nothing like Petanque. Pff. Phillistines.
