Rationalwiki needs you

Postby Shen1986 » Fri Aug 02, 2013 5:20 am

Rationalwiki a place where is a lot of skeptical looks and information on several woo masters and woo stuff. Needs support:

This is our 2013 summer fundraiser.

Our server costs are higher than last year — this is a good thing! More people are reading and loving RationalWiki than ever before. But this means our server costs are also higher than last year, so our money doesn't stretch as far as it used to.

Taken from: http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/RationalWiki:Fundraiser

So if anyone want to contribute he is welcomed. I just wanted to let you know about this.

Well, rationality does have a heavy Left-wing bias. :heh:

Who cares. It's a minor blip compared to the atrocities in the world.

Rationalwiki, like wikipedia is a good thing worthy of support either by monetary or participatory contributions.

Are you being dense on purpose?

Rationalwiki has been compromised by this crowd.

Why support a site that has a hidden agenda but pretends to be neutral??

Baboon Squad is the nickname for his followers and allies. People like Gretta Christina, Ophelia Benson, Stephanie Zvan, Richard Carrier, Greg Laden, Melody Hensley, etc and many of the regular commenters at Pharangula.

I'm getting the inpression that nobody here posts or lurks at the slymepit. This is Atheism Schism 101 stuff here.

Who said anyone is supporting one side? Rational wiki gives good rational information on certain things, and I support that.

Additionally, I don't believe all the wiki editors are part of the 'team'.

They also give very biased info on Atheist issues. It has clearly been edited with an agenda. By supporting the site, you're supporting that agenda.

Additionally, I don't believe all the wiki editors are part of the 'team'.

All that matters is the end result. Take a look at their "fair" treatment of Thunderf00t.

http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Thunderf00t

vs the glowing pages for Jen McCreight, PZ Myers, other FTB'ers and other Baboons.

http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Jen_McCreight
http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Pz_myers
http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Rebecca_Watson

FTB's and those who share their perspective have clearly taken over. Support for RationalWiki is support for the FTB baboon squad.

No, but they have a rather biased Atheism+ page which clearly advocates for the movement and dismisses all criticism.

You posted links to entire articles. I'm asking you to show which parts of them are biased and what that bias is towards.

Just heard a story on NPR about this.

http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/10/21/wik ... l-entries/

This is a constant issue with public sourced information. Same is happening at Rationalwiki and other such sites.

A pretty politically motivated article on Shermer, if you ask me. It reads in a mocking tone comparing him to a biblical figure when talking of his contributions. Then goes on to besmirch him. That demonstrates bias.

After reading a few, yes only a few, more pages, the thing seems like a gossip column to me. Which is right up Meyers' and Watson's alley, though I didn't see if they were directly involved.

I'll hold on to my money for now.
