FYI re very old Penn and Teller rerun

Postby godless » Fri Sep 14, 2012 11:43 pm

I heard the editor of Skeptic speaking about possible interpretations of a Nostradamus quatrain. He disagreed with the usual idea that he was predicting the great fire of London and suggested he was referring to the frequent burning of witches. He also stated as fact that Nostradamus thought this was terrible!!! I was doubtful and did some checking.Although it did happen in many parts of mainland Europe there isnt a single documented case of a witch executed by burning in England whatever it may say in the Da Vinci Code and the like.9 out of 10 were aquitted and most of the remaining 10 per cent were told to go home and practice witchcraft no more except for the regrettable 20 years of puritanism in the 1600s when many were hanged.
