What is truth?

Postby Abdul Alhazred » Wed Apr 19, 2017 1:46 pm

Pomona College Students Say There’s No Such Thing as Truth, 'Truth' Is a Tool of White Supremacy
Reason

...

If the truth does not exist—if it is merely a construct—what's the point of attending university? What's the point of accruing knowledge? How is a liberal activist movement ever going to counter President Trump's ceaseless and worrying hostility toward basic facts if it rejects the existence of object reality?

But they did put quotes on `Truth` - and as I have said in the past - "`Truth` spoken loudly", is rarely the truth, but is rather a way of disguising a falsehood.

Racialist implications aside, it strikes me as being quite like something out of Nietzsche.

You attend and graduate the University to show you know how to play the game.

Same as always.

You have your baby treeth and adult treeth. Every time you lose a baby truth an adult one grows in its place.

Even adult truths can grow in crooked. Not trying to be confentational, just saying.

I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:
Spoiler:
1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things.

Would "truth is something that can be proven empirically, and still hold true whenever the same experiment is held in the same conditions" work? Although someone on YouTube has already called science biased, discriminating and hateful, so I need more opinions on this.

Why do you need more than what you just posted? You have an idea, "someone on YouTube" had a different idea. Shirley you can evaluate the legitimacy of both and form your own conclusion? How is 400 years of Western Science drawn into doubt because of someone on YouTube?
