Haters gonna hate, imbeciles gotta prate... Repugnant scum Kingston asserts that the #neveragain movement could not have possibly been started (or be sustained) by those who survived the Parkland tragedy, but it must be blamed on "The Left" and all its despicable agencies...

The AR-15 being used as it is only in recent years, (Jason Miller) 'we have to look at violent video games, shooter games, social media...' -- but not here:

...the AR-15 found new life in 2004 when President George W. Bush allowed the ban on assault weapons that had been enacted under President Bill Clinton in 1994 to die...

...And in 2005, Bush signed into law a measure protecting arms makers and dealers from liability for crimes committed with their products. The NRA called it “the most significant piece of pro-gun legislation in twenty years.”

I am in favor of an assault weapons ban but . . . fewer than 5% of gun murders are committed with a rifle of any kind (handguns are how Americans shoot and kill each other). An assault rifle ban should make large mass murders less likely - although there are so many of such rifles around, it is hard to see how, unless you somehow go after ammo for such weapons.

Gallup has become an outlier. RCP average of polls is -12.2 (41.6/53.8). HuffPollster -8.6% (43.6/52.2).

Gallup -22 is Trump's worst poll by far. I think we need to see some newer polls to see if the average gap is really widening. In the past week we have just Gallup (-22) and Rasmussen (usually at the other end, -5 according to HuffPo and -7 according to RCP).

Ah, but surely all of those law abiding gun owners would obey the law and rush to turn them in. No?

For real change - I`d go after the manufacturers and sellers, making them responsible for any misuse.

Sure but there are millions and millions of assault weapons in people's hands today. And 96% or so of gun killings are done with handguns. I'm not against first steps or doing what can be done - if they can get a ban (or restrictions) on assault rifles, it would be good but, remember the last "ban," which made no measurable impact (in part because the number of murders with such weapons is small %-wise; also, guns and ammo already owned were not touched - no buy-back like in Australia). Realistically, an achievable assault rifle ban seems unlikely to make a big difference on its own - if new laws prevented one or two mass shootings, they'd be worth it. But I'm just pretty pessimistic based on where we are with guns and the politics of what's possible.

That's encouraging. Of course, if this goes all the way to SCOTUS, we know it will end badly, just like the 2000 election. The Republicans on SCOTUS have no more principles than the rest of their party.

Only superficially. The court said that districts must be compact and contiguous, they must have roughly the same population, and they should not split counties, towns or cities if possible. Also, it must not be drawn to give an advantage to a political party.

According to HuffPo, the court said that the new map splits 13 as opposed to 28 counties and that the map improves on what was submitted by the Republican controlled legislature, plaintiffs, Democrats, and others.

Democrats flipped a GOP-held Kentucky state House seat on Tuesday, handing the party its 37th state legislative pickup nationwide since Donald Trump won the presidency.

Democrat Linda Belcher, a former public school teacher and state lawmaker, defeated Republican Rebecca Johnson, 68 percent to 32 percent....

Sorry, didn’t make myself clear.

It doesn’t matter because motivations for committing these types of acts stems from a lot of different issues. Anyone who chooses to pick up a weapon and end the life of someone or a group of a people isn’t thinking liking a “Democrat” or “Republican” at the time they are doing it. Their voting record is irrelevant.

Now, in cases of a terrorist attack or an assassination then of course that person’s motivation is political.....but I’d hesitate to limit that motivation to strictly the political.

So, what makes me angry is this need to politicize a horrible act. Republicans are scrambling to limit the damage so they send out false news that will be believed.

Gun control is a political issue because people turn it into one. I myself wouldn’t give a damn who fixes it, be they Republican or Democrat.

However, the willingness to fix this issue seems exclusively Democrat.

I think that's also not entirely one-sided, but I do agree with you. It doesn't matter. And that's one reason - besides the fact that it isn't true - that mainstream media doesn't report such a thing. It's primarily those like FAUX Noise and all friends who think up such stuff.

:hmm: And I'd suspect a large percentage of conspiraloons are (so-called) conservatives.

The brainwashing has been going on for a long time now... "Words That Work: It's Not What You Say, It's What People Hear." I wonder if I run for PRESIDENT, will the haters and losers vote for me knowing that I will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN? I say they will! - 26 Sep 2014 05:52:39 PM.

...Trump had already registered his campaign slogan in 2012 — less than a week after the 6 November 2012 re-election of President Barack Obama. The United States Patent and Trademark Office publicly details the evolution of that application (serial number 85783371), which Donald Trump signed on 12 November 2012 and his lawyers filed just a week later....

That's right, he sought to patent the phrase "Make America Great Again" in November of 2012.

Hmm, even Bill Clinton didn't need NOTES to say, "I feel your pain." How dumb is this guy?
"How do you teach events that defy knowledge, experiences that go beyond imagination? How do you tell children, big and small, that society could lose its mind and start murdering its own soul and its own future? How do you unveil horrors without offering at the same time some measure of hope? Hope in what? In whom? In progress, in science and literature and God?"
