A Switch Problem

Postby finallyskeptic » Wed Nov 28, 2012 8:09 pm

There's a group of extremely smart prisoners and there's an extremely smart jailer. The jailer decides to send the prisoners one at a time to a room with a switch. He can send them randomly,he can send A a hundred times and send B not at all but eventually he has to send all of them. The prisoners are allowed to turn the switch on and of or do nothing at all.You are the leader of the prisoners. It's your job to formulate a plan so that you can tell the jailer when all of you have visited the jail at least once.If you get it right then he will let you all go and if you get it wrong you all shall be executed.
What will your plan be?
a.You know the initial position of the switch.
b.You don't know the initial position of the switch.

attack the jailer, steal his weapons and keys, rape him to let the authorities know you're serious, get a helicopter and a million dollars

The first time anyone enters the room, he should hork on the wall. When the number of loogies on the wall equals the number of prisoners, you know everyone's been in the room!
