The most bizarre anti-evolution tract EVAR!

Jack Chick's latest.

Not a rehash of the usual creationist tropes.

Deflection by reflection. Childish enough for Chick, I guess.

As always.

Statements without evidence to back them up, and the use of fear as a tactic.

I'm convinced.
I'm going to interview a couple of Heavy Metal bands- they all claim they've been to Hell and back, so I guess there is an exit through the gift shop.
I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:
Spoiler:
1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things.

Hello everyone!

I found the tract disturbing, to say the least . . . yet it causes me to ask important questions that I haven't properly considered.

If I had children (I don't, by the way), it would seem to me that I would want to expose them to many different points of view, many ideas, and different philosophies so that they could make an informed decision on who and what they would want to be when they grew up.

This religious tract reads like a horror comic book, and seems more suited for cultivating an atmosphere of terror and fear rather than honest spirituality. If I shielded my children from such garbage, and I protecting their psychological well-being, or am I censoring the real world and giving them a lopsided view of what they may encounter as adults?

It's a confusing issue.

Thank you for reviewing my post.

Best,
---Kevin

Totally appropriate to protect you're children from stuff like this. Would you ask the same question of porn or Eli Roth films? Let them grow to adulthood.

You could expose them to religion, even the worst forms of it without exposing them to fearmongering horror comics from Jack Chic, RIP.

Thank you for responding to my post, and I agree with you.

I honestly think that Jack Chic (I read some of his other tracts) is a sick hate-monger, but I'm probably not objective enough to have a balanced opinion.

Thank you again.

Best,

You are a hopeless idealist and a dreamer Kevin. Children are a scourge of life, a monstrous invasion of chaos and instability into a well planned and harmonious adult life. In order to remain sane, you keep them away from yourself as much as you can. Send them to school in the morning and to the basement play room afterwards with the sugar loaded snacks, fizzy drinks and lots of computer games.

Don't ever attempt to tell them anything about "life" They will find it out by themselves from TV. Ship them off to "college" as soon as you can and make them work eighteen hour shifts at McDonalds during the summer to pay for the entire thing. You'll see, they'll be grateful.

Yes, I guess that I'm an idealist in many ways.

Is it just me, or do I see an element of paranoia in Chick's tracts?

Is there such a thing as religious and/or spiritual paranoia, and does this have any relationship with mental illness in general, and OCD in particular?

Just my two cents.

Best,

Religion is based on "Us vs. Them", or "Saved vs Unsaved", "Wise vs. Foolish", etc. So yeah, there's a taint of paranoia in the very foundations of religion.

We could take this to the extreme and leave the kids with a pedophile for a week. Just so they know all the options out there.

A better idea would be to show them that tract and explain the problems to them. Access AND education, not just access.
