Human Autism Gene?

Postby Tom Palven » Thu Aug 04, 2016 2:42 pm

I can't think of a way to paraphrase this aside from what the link says:

The first sentence does a good job: "A structure that represents the biggest known genetic difference between humans and Neanderthals also predisposes humans to autism. "
Real Name: bobbo the existential pragmatic evangelical anti-theist and Class Warrior.
Asking: What is the most good for the most people?
Sample Issue: Should the Feds provide all babies with free diapers?

My oldest son is autistic, specifically he has Asperger's.

I'm sure you've heard of this other possible connection, ultrasound, but others here may not have, and maybe you'd like to comment on both these possibilities and/or others.

That's interesting, I've never heard or seen that possibility, that ultrasound possibly causes autism.

I have two boys, both received the same type of care before birth. My oldest son is autistic, my youngest son is not. I'm inclined to believe that genetics is primarily to blame, I've never been diagnosed but my oldest son and I share many characteristics, especially when I think back to my childhood and the way I was.

This will upset the anti-vaxers.

But it might boost certain wooistas into high gear "spiritually healing" autism...

I don't have a lot of patience for the anti-vaccine movement, given the minuscule possibility that vaccines cause autism versus the higher possibility of my children dying of a preventable disease I'll roll that dice every time.

On the other hand, there's this: http://www.kevinmd.com/blog/2013/07/ult ... utism.html

That refutation is pretty convincing. Thanks.

I don't believe either side, but I 80% disbelieve the conspiracy theorists.
