Make it go away

Postby landrew » Tue Jul 31, 2018 6:23 pm

Oh, I wake up in the morning with so many troubling questions on my mind...
They make me think too much, and my head hurts.
So I go to the skeptics forum, where I can ridicule, deny and dismiss...
It gives me relief for my spleen.
The job of a skeptic is to investigate the unexplained; not to explain the uninvestigated.

I thought you weren't going to argue about the proper way to skeptic.
"Knowledge grows through infinite timelessness" -- the random fictional Deepak Chopra quote site
"Imagine an ennobling of what could be" -- the New Age BS Generator site
"You are also taking my words out of context." -- Justin
"Nullius in verba" -- The Royal Society ["take nobody's word for it"]

No argument, just a little satire in the morning to go with breakfast.

Satire is a fun litmus test.

If the thing you're satirising laughs, you know there's not much truth to it. Maybe a little; enough to be funny.

If the thing you're satirising gets offended, the truth in that joke was too close for comfort.

There's mileage in that. Blue litmus that curls away from an acid solution springs to mind..

Good satire always offends someone.

Because there's always enough truth in it for it to be too close for comfort to someone.
