"the Unwinding" by George Packer…

Postby nmblum88 » Thu Mar 06, 2014 4:29 pm

Jus noticed while skimming through today's New Yorker, that George Packer's interesting and very serious look at the consequences of America's precipitous decline in human terms, and to ordinary people has just come out in paper-back form.
I think, I hope I mentioned this well written and important book before: it is not only moving but a reminder that we are all in the stew of economic change together..
And that the rust that covers one belt of the American landscape will inevitably start to cover yet another…
And in fact has already happened.
Highly recommended reading that makes for thinking.

" Norma, you poor sad lonely alcoholic. You entire life is devoted to interrupting other people's posts on this forum, regardless of the topic, to tell them what's wrong with them. The irony is, here you are doing it again, with this very post.
Your fanciful card games, movie sojourns and exciting overseas trips, that all take place within the four walls of an aged care retirement home, do not suggest your own children offered you the care, I gave my parents."
