Gord, I agree. Never trust a waitress that puts her thumb even near your pie.

IDIOTS. All the talk is still about all the Federal $$$$ and (illegal) labor shortage its going to take to "REBUILD HOUSTON." Ha,......I think I seriously would condition Federal Aid on TEXAS instituting a State Income Tax with it being targeted to repay the Feds. "Fug Em."

Main complaint about not having enough illegal workers to rebuild: if we pay what Americans want to do the job, it would be too expensive. AND THERE IT IS. Raw class warfare staring us in the face. Nothing to do with China or NAFTA....just raw class warfare.

Makes me think about Katrina. I've seen shows mentioning the rebuild in New Orleans.....but what have they done in the Ninth District that was underwater? Are all these houses now on stilts or what? Haven't heard about any nice new Parks in New Orleans.

ARE WE POSSIBLY THIS STOOPID????????.......... I fear to google this. Back when my stomach calms down.

Thanks Eggs. Yes, I've heard the refrain about 3 times now: "No one could have predicted it..... the largest Storm ever."

But I just have to wonder: if they don't plan/zone for 100 year floods, how could they be expected to plan/zone for 500 year .... or even 1000 year floods?

But, if you ever were going to plan for anything.........where you put your hazard waste acid pits should be near the 5000 year flood zone??????

Hang on a second here.

The Pentagon overstated the number of troops that had been deployed to hurricane relief efforts after inadvertently double-counting service members who went to Texas and Louisiana in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

On Thursday, US Northern Command said that the US military had deployed more than 6,300 active duty troops, but in fact, the number of troops was actually 1,638 as of 7 a.m. ET Friday.

You can't get 6,300 by "double-counting" 1,638. The most you can get would be double 1,638, which is only 3,276.

It's more likely someone dropped the one from the front and added a zero at the end.

Psst... most people don`t know what double counting means - nor could figure out the math.

Reminds me of a temp staff who was tasked with doing an inventory – and listed `a few`, `a handful`, `some`…

But for clarity... it says that National Guard troops (non-active duty) were included in the active duty number...

But they could have just clarified by saying a passel of troops were sent....

Earlier Wednesday morning Trump speculated that Hurricane Irma could be the “largest ever recorded in the Atlantic” and said there was “no rest for the weary” for federal disaster workers.

This is why Trump agreed to the Dem debt deal. With a precedent set for Harvey damage, he will now get congress to pay for whatever damage there is at Merry-Leggo.

I hope it doesn't hit Mar-a-Lago. There are people there, but Trump isn't one of them. Sure, they’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists. But I assume some are good people.

It's not like the loss of life and property at Mar-a-Lago will even inconvenience the giant orange turd. He'll just pass the bill on to someone else, like he always does.

Yes - if people have indeed not heeded the evacuation order, and are in harms way - then I too would prefer they not be injured - but the facility? Blow it down! It would be a great climate change moment - well worthy of a celebration.
