Yes, and Rachel is "wundrring" (implying) that Rex Tillerson in particular as well as other personalities in the "Palace" are Putin's guys.

And the bona fide members of the Russian Conspiracy club are pooping in their pants with joy. Finally, the proof from Rachel.

Why worry about the dying life on the overpopulated and overheated planet, and a war that finally could keep it's promise of ending all wars (and life) for ever if we can indulge in speculation about the palace intrigue with it's mandatory backstabbings at the heart of the mad empire.

I am not aware of any direct Bannon-Russia connections.
But Bannon is very much ideologically aligned with the nationalist-dictartorial style of Putin.

I was watching Trump explaining on TV tonight how he is going to win the war in Afghanistan. More troops, more money, maybe a new war with Pakistan, definitely no nation building (screw the freedom and democracy, we are there because of our self interests), lots of private mercenaries and a solid support for the corrupt government of Afghanistan (aka give them more money).

And then there was this word again "training" . Seventeen years of training was not enough. Everybody knows that if Americans left the Afghan army would probably collapse in one week. Trump is going to train them again and again and ...

Not a word was said about ethnic divisions in the country. The Pashtuns, Tajiks, Hazara, Aimaks, Turkmen and Balochs don't get along with each other. The literacy rate is about 30% and the corruption and betrayal are the way of life.

Iran has a great influence in the Farsi speaking western part of the country. Pakistan supports the Afghan Taliban. The most of heroin in the world comes from Afghanistan and there is absolutely no democratic tradition in sight anywhere.

Bombing Pakistan is likely to destabilize the country and may lead to either proliferation of nuclear weapons (they might sell a few bombs to the jihadis) or a nuclear war.

And finally some good news from Washington; the war profiteers lobby held a big joyous party. Yeap, the life is good for the blood suckers.

I wuz plezently suprized that NBC didnt dump the time Trump wasted with "return to our regularly skejuled program in progress". They started American Ninja Warrior where it left off.

Trumps address wuz exactly az I expected - shallow and skatterbrained. Wut he will actually do iz let the jeneralz off the leash kuz he duznt care wut happenz. The Fox propaganda iz spinning it az 'not micromanajing the military like Obama and Clinton did'. Good way to distract frum the Russia scandal. And I'd rate it 50% that Putin told him to ramp up the war.

Here's an article about Trump's equating the neo-nazis wit the antifa: https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/ar ... _source=eb

I wanted to quote one particular section, because I don't trust the numbers it gives and was hoping someone could counter it if it's wrong:

What Trump Gets Wrong About Antifa

...According to the Anti-Defamation League, right-wing extremists committed 74 percent of the 372 politically motivated murders recorded in the United States between 2007 and 2016. Left-wing extremists committed less than 2 percent....

There were 372 politically motivated murders in the US between 2007 and 2016? Wowwwww.

I believe Snowden did HK, not Japan - but the Turd`s playtoy is at Yokota AFB on the edge of Tokyo, or at least it was when he landed this morning.

And here's a rebuttal:

http://freebeacon.com/politics/ny-times-reports-obama-told-18-falsehoods-presidency/ wrote:. . . fact-checker Politifact ruled that over the course of his presidency, Obama made 43 "false" statements and 48 "mostly false" statements. Politifact also identified 7 "pants on fire" statements, which are falsehoods that are "not accurate and make a ridiculous claim."

The majority of Politifact's "Pants on Fire"-rated claims didn't even make it on to the Times list, . . .

It seems that The New York Times  lied about how many times Obama lied.

Whataboutism is one of the fallacies commonly used by both Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives. It's yet another reason why I am neither.

However, merely pointing out that your guy is just as bad as my guy, is not the fallacy of whataboutism if it is not used to refute or excuse my guy's evildoing.

Examples:

  1. Nancy: Your husband lied.
Mary: Your accusation is invalid because your husband lied too.

  2. Nancy: Your husband lied.
Mary: Yes he did. And so did yours.

Example #1 is the fallacy of whataboutism, but example #2 is not.

If Mary is trying to deny or excuse her own husband's lies (#1), then that is the fallacy of whataboutism.

But if Mary does not deny or excuse her own husband's lies (#2), then it is not a fallacy. It is merely an observation.

But I assume y'all already know all that, and how to tell when someone is using whataboutism as a fallacy or not.

Xouper, there is no basis in reality to equate Hillary and Donald.
Moreover, one is president and the other is not: Trump MUST be held to a higher standard simply because of the authority he now holds.
And most important of all: trying to relativise the bad doesn't make the bad any less bad: that is the key fallacy of whataboutism.
