I've been listening to classic country on AM radio. Don't do that, lots of ear worms. I woke up with this one.

LOL… Okay that's pretty awful… if not one of the very worst.
(I actually tried to improve it by rewriting the lyric to "I've got my FEET in Tennessee, but my HEART in L.A…" still doesn't work, either in sound or story.)
BUT, so what?
No genre of music can win 'em all.
Mozart had clunkers too..
The antidote to a bad country earthworm is to immediately play this one, maybe more than once, just to get back in what is your groove.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GP3-jHZF2Q

If ever there was an earthworm, this is it…
But somehow. the mystery of music… it makes me smile and tap my toes when I hear it, instead of making me want to throw up from too much sugar in my country diet.

I do love Hank III. Completely irreverent. And I have no clue how Glen Campbell made a dime on music, and yet I probably know all the lyrics in his songs.

Because culture clash is good for us: one can like one's anchovies steeped in white wine, and still lust after a crusty, fat piece of fried chicken… or matzo ball soup, depending on who we are and where we come from…
Or not.
As with this: I heard it on the radio early this morning, and have been humming it all day even though it has nothing to do with me.
And I don't particularly like the band.
Still…. still… still….

Suffer in your jocks.

My Chihuahua sits in the window waiting for me to come home whenever I go out. He's like one of those waving cat things.

My most recent earworm caused me to wonder:

What did humans do for earworms before bad music was invented?

On a serious level, I think (but don't know) we simply did this with spoken expressions. Is Cockney English rhyming slang a sort of an ear worm? It's sort of a tune, but it's not really music. It does seem to stick in people's heads.

If I use a common Aussie term like "This desk looks like a dog's breakfast" is that a shared common term because it is like an ear worm?

I don't know, but I'm thinking about it.

It should be the forum's theme song...with a few small changes in the lyrics:

WOOIST LEAD SINGER: Phenomenon...
SKEPTICS' CHORUS: Woo woo woo woo woo!
"An extraordinary claim requires extraordinary proof."—Marcello Truzzi

"What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence."—Christopher Hitchens

There's another old one I've been trying to remember without success lately. It was something about vikings? They might have been kittens? I think their longship is flying through the sky or something?

Oh never mind, it was this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1SXCo-xSvk

Led Zeppelin didn't like them using the song so all of the videos have been silenced.
