He reminds me of [(William Shatner + John Kerry) / George Dubya Bush]. :heh:

Dave Allen was a Irish Roman Catholic, who made a cheap TV comedy show that concentrated on taking the piss out of the Catholic Church. I think he was famous for being religiously risky in the 70's, as well as just being funny. The skits in the Dave Allen show were the "gems".

Anyone likes the new Doctor Who?

I think it's pretty sad...why does he have to say in every episode now, "I am the doctor, google it" :bag:

Thank you for this excellent video. I read books on historical building techniques. I would love to try doing this myself.

Startalk with Neil Degrasse Tyson is quite good this week (16 Dec 2015). The subject is Magic, the guests are Penn & Teller. Brief (very brief) appearances by Michael Shermer and Bill Nye.

That hut demonstrates an issue still violated by modern day contractors: the house is on, sometimes below grade, instead of well above grade. I assume the building code mandates above (maybe just "at" which is very bad) grade...but it is too often ignored.

I've owned two homes below grade. Dampness, flooding, rot, mold problems. "Never Again."

Avoided buying a house at the Head of a T junction. Its not that cars will occeassionally not stop and go right into your house. Its all the cars that do stop at night with their headlights right on your house.

I knew all this and more as I moved into my current home. Above grade but below the flood plain. I just keep my fingers crossed and know that the flood plain will handle all normal floods unless the bridge underpass gets clogged as it did years ago by a bed mattress. Water rose to the base of my foundation until the fire department removed the object. I confirm their emergency number on each big storm.

While I was researching the "Ra" nonsense, I came across a very odd and strange video. In 1974 a very eccentric African American synthesiser musician made a "futurist-African science fantasy surrealist" film. His name is Sun Ra.

I don't know what he was trying to do, but he ended up with quite a good disjointed surrealist movie, like Jodorowsky's "El Topo" and "The Holy Mountain". It sort of ties up with the funk band, Parliament's ongoing theme of Africans in space. It "feels" like 'Barbarella" the movie, in some parts.

I like it because it is so weird and unusual. The colour SFX treatment of normal jungle footage, to make it look alien, sort of works :)

I first present a 2minute sample of the film. Below that is a link to the entire film.

Ha! I am so going to watch that tonight! Also reminded me of Fantastic Planet. Definitely smoke 'em if ya got 'em for this one! ;) They certainly were!

Over the last few days I've been watching this chick's channel. It's about tiny houses. I find the minimalist and ingenious use of functional living space to be fascinating. And the way she films has a meditative quality. I can watch for hours and hours.

I especially like this one...

Gawdzilla? I'm going to put our friendship as risk by pointing out that "Varan , the unbelievable" wasn't very believable.

This now starts a complex linguistic paradox as you said Varan wasn't believable, in the first place, and I didn't believe that. Therefore some forum members will believe that I don't believe that Varan is unbelievable.

For this reason I will sign off and do some accounting work. :D
