You're right, "girz are" is grammatically correct, but it doesn't make the same point as "girz iz".

Getting ready for my favorite times of the year!!! A huge Thanksgiving with all of my family (about 30 this year) and then our annual Christmas cookie baking party on Saturday. Every year we bake about 10,000 cookies. Some are small and some are large. We also make toffee and fudge and sometimes homemade peanut butter cups. We have 30 or 40 people at my dad's and my stepmom makes clam chowder while the guys fry turkeys and smoke ribs. Then we eat dinner and fall asleep. We give the cookies away for gifts, or, in my case, just eat them all for three or four weeks. It is awesome, in the true sense of the word, to see cookies and candies and bars piled up on the three long tables we set up for the occasion. I will post some pictures next week.

Also, can anybody tell me where to get an avatar pic of an ouroboros that will fit? All the ones I have tried are too large and I'm not exactly skilled at editing drawings. I just picked my avatar out of the list, but it doesn't really represent me. I have a tattoo of an infinity symbol and after Christmas I'm getting a circumpunct on the back of my neck. My son just finished designing an ouroboros for me to go around my left ankle, but that one will have to wait until I can save up enough money.

Saved a spider today.

I wuz taking a long relaxing hot bath and saw sumthing dark floating on the surface. Didnt hav my glassiz on, uv course, so didnt see that it wuz wun uv thoze frendly little hopping spiderz. It made me snatch my finger back under the water wen it grabbed on. Wen I looked close and saw who it wuz, I fished him out and dried him az best I coud, but he wuz alredy curling up hiz legz. I put him on the window frame in the kichin, feeling bad that I wuz so careless.

Later wen I got out, he wuz cleaning hiz feet and I gave him sum cat food. He started eating rite away, wich cheered me up.

I save spiders all time! Except for one. My brother caught a black widow in a jar, and of course we couldn't just let him go, but no one wanted to chance letting it out and stepping on it, so we just left it in the jar, but I am still living with the guilty thought of it smothering to death.

Some spiders I let be. Some spiders I crush.

A couple days ago a lady pulled-up in a shopping parking lot next to me, frantic.

There was a spider on her car. She nearly crashed. Could I remove it, please?

It was a big hairy one. A huntsman. Easily three inches across. *flick*

Then she asked to use my phone to call her husband. What? Why?

To tell him about the spider on her car, and how she nearly crashed, and a stranger saved her and lent her his phone so she call her husband to tell him the story?

I just kinda raised my eyebrow and nodded get the {!#%@} outta here.

I looked after she'd driven off. The spider was still there. I looked again later. It'd buggered off. Probably on my car, now.

The Little Atoms Road Trip podcast had an interview last week with Leslie Brunetta who just wrote a book about the evolution of spiders. It was pretty interesting.

That's funny.

Some years ago, I was building something or other in a lady's backyard, a timber gazebo, I believe. She had a little boy who's dad had {!#%@} off somewhere, so he like'd to talk to me. He yelled for me to come look, just beaming with excitement. It was a wolf spider, same deal, big hairy thing, harmless to people. I think, anyway. The kid runs and get's his mom. She was just as excited, but not in a good way. "Kill it, Kill it!!!!!" The boy,"No!" I reached down, picked it up, and asked for a box. She got one, I closed the spider up, and told the boy I'd take it home and it would be fine. I let it go in my yard.
