They look like a kelpie x border collie. But Wiki says no.

As a kid I had a scotch collie, then a blue heeler. Friend had a kelpie. I always liked the border collies.

Now on my second chihuahua.

Hey, the lower one in the image has the same facial markings my old dog had. Except yours looks more...evil...somehow.

The brown one in back is half Aussie, half border collie. The other two are pure Aussie. They were born in the same sac. The breeder thought this meant they were twins. Of course I had to look that up, and yeah, not really. But we got a good deal on the pair, as she thought they should stay together.

My dog was half Purebreed Siberian husky and half whatever her mother managed to find on the street that one day when she jumped the fence (the breeder was trying to breed pure Siberians, but the female didn't like the male). Her vet recorded her as a "German shepherd", which made everyone else shake their heads and say "that is not a German shepherd".

Elephants!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/07/0 ... 64543.html

U.S. Announces Near-Total Ban On African Elephant Ivory Trade
The U.S. is currently one of the leading markets for illegal ivory.

...The new rule, which will go into effect July 6, 2016, is an update to rules that were put into place to regulate ivory imports when the African elephant originally received the threatened species classification....

...with few exceptions including antiques that are more than 100 years old, and musical instruments, firearms and pieces of furniture that contain less than 200 grams of ivory....

...The United States and China are the two leading markets for illegal ivory. Last September, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the U.S. and the two leaders agreed to ban ivory trade in their countries.

Um...hooray?

Wait, so you can still import African elephant ivory as long as it's under 200 grams per firearm? :befuddled:

Elephants!

I had just read this article, mentioning poaching at the end of it:

The demand for ivory has become so high, that 62% of all forest elephants have been lost in only the short period of 2002-2011 (Maisels et al. 2013).

Do you ever get the impression that all the save the animal charityz are just milking us? Its like everything iz about to go extinct, yet decadez later, they are still here, still about to go extinct. With all the money they hav gotten, they coud hav created a fully equipped army to go into Africa and extinct the poachers.

No.

Its like everything iz about to go extinct, yet decadez later, they are still here, still about to go extinct.

On might conclude the efforts are paying off, but are difficult, underfunded, and ongoing.

With all the money they hav gotten, they coud hav created a fully equipped army to go into Africa and extinct the poachers.

No they could not. If you kill one generation of poachers, they will be replaced by another generation of poachers. If you kill an entire society of poachers, they will be replaced by another society of poachers.

Just wandering: seems to me that elephant ivory might be a good thing to grow in a petri dish...or modify the dna of dairy cows and replace their horns with ivory? Flood the Market releaving the wild source. Same with Rhino Horn....on and on.

I'd guess one would get ivory hoofs, too. Not sure if that would work for the bovine.

Might work on deer. It seems similar and they shed their antlers naturally, AFAIK. Time might be an issue, tho?

I thought diamonds were bright and shiny because they refracted light...ie, yes absorb it all, bounce it around, and then emit it. If totally absorbed, wouldn't diamonds be black, dark, or not seen at all? There's a thought.
