I remain glad I got to try. :-)

It just occurred to me that I'm an inflatable assassin robot, and Big Hero Six is an inflatable medic robot, so that makes us arch-enemies.

Kill the medics!

How to Overcome Political Irrationality About Facts
...Kahan and his collaborators wanted to see whether this very human tendency to seek out facts that conform with our reasoning and identities—staying glued to our red and blue feeds—can ever be tamped down.

They found that it could, as long as you possess an odd trait called “science curiosity.”...

...it’s “individuals who have an appetite to be surprised by scientific information—who find it pleasurable to discover that the world does not work as they expected … [who] expose themselves more readily to information that defies their expectations.”

The study authors conclude that their findings are very preliminary—they were meant to help boost interest in science documentaries, not end political polarization—but promising.

Kahan proposes that, if his results hold up, curiosity could be considered “essential to good civic character,” and cultivated actively “among the citizens of the Liberal Republic of Science.” (We’re probably going to need to workshop the name of this metaphorical “republic.”)...

Hey! Look what I found on Snopes!

http://www.snopes.com/college/risque/salty.asp

Why Does It Taste So Salty?
A female student embarrassingly asks the biology instructor why semen tastes so salty.

I remember this story from sometime in the mid-eighties. A friend of mine claimed it happened in his biology class.

The day’s lesson was on sex, etc., and the teacher mentioned how sperm is 80% sugar (or something like that) whereupon a girl asks out loud, “How come it tastes so salty then?” She turns beet red and runs from the room.

This could have come from my high school biology class. The only differences were that the day's lesson wasn't entirely on sex, that was just a part of it, and the girl didn't run from the room. She did turn red, though, and everyone laughed.

If I could find my yearbook, I could even tell you the name of the teacher and maybe the name of the girl (although it's been a long time and my memory might not be up to providing a 100% accurate identification).

I had to endlessly cheat in High school. My physics teacher claimed hot water froze faster than cold water. We put two ice cube containers in the teacher's fridge over the lunch break. I went to another teacher who helped me pour hot water into the hot water container during lunch. At the end of lunch ,as thermometers were being dipped in, the other teacher walked in and announced that I cheated as a lesson "about cheating in science experiments".

What a complete bastard .....but a very good teacher.

History channel just played the opening scenes to As The World Turns, sponsored by Viagra Spray Starch… erm, Niagra… (If only Viagra worked that way ;) ) and then proceeded to interrupt with a CBS Bulletin – reporting on the Dallas motorcade shooting on Friday 23rd November 1963 – interrupted by lame fashion displays and comments before proceeding to first person interviews of people speaking in a funny dialect. I don`t know if that session of As the World Turns was ever rebroadcast.
