Yeah, no, I think I can get that infected even before it arrives.

Major Malfunction wrote:Try Malwarebytes. Install, run scan, uninstall. PM me if you need more help.

Already did. I've been running it for two days now. Still getting popups, right through the Chrome popup blocker, Kaspersky, Malwarbytes, everything.

I just spent half an hour on the Chrome homepage, reading their advice. "Try running in an incognito window to see if that stops them," they suggested. Well no, it does not. But I do get entirely different popups, thank you very much.

I don't want to come off as suggesting anything supernatural, apocalyptic, or anything else, but so many celebrities have died since Trump won the election! As if that wasn't enough to make me cringe over the past month.

I got a virus on my desktop that allowed somebody to create a remote session and to access Firefox which had my PayPal password saved and make a bunch of purchases (mostly gift cards). I've put in a fraud report and I should be able to get the entire $1100 they spent back but it's still a pain. But lesson learned, don't save your passwords, even if you're the only one who uses your computer!

EDIT: By the way, none of the antivirus software I ran found the issue so I sent some security logs to a friend who does this kind of work for a living and he found the applications that were causing the problem. I've deleted them but just to be safe I'm keeping that PC shut down until I have a chance to back up some personal data and do a complete factory reset on it. It's an old computer that needs to be cleaned out anyway.

Ow, that's nasty.

Can't quite manage to get me that way, though, 'cause I have no money in my paypal account or in the bank account that paypal can withdraw funds from. (Well, I have 32 cents in paypal and nearly $7 in my bank account. If someone's desperate enough to steal that, then I honestly wish them well.)

Okay, I'm trying something a bit lopsided: I noticed that one particular website keeps getting accessed, and it turns out that site is a legitimate site that does advertising, so the virus is sending me there to get the popups to, er, upwardly pop. My cunning plan is to block that website. I don't imagine why this should work, but I've written a line in my Hosts file to redirect all redirects to that website to a blank page.

It can't possibly work. It's too simple. No virus writer would let something like this counter their virus. (Not that I know what a virus writer would do, but...well I mean, come on!)

Edit: Ooh, look at that, it already worked.

This site can’t be reached

vq61355.com refused to connect.

Take that, you bastards! Hahaha! Victorious!!

...seriously, how can it possibly be that simple? :!: :befuddled: I must have missed something.

It's a bit late. Gord, but it may not have been on your computer at all but rather on the search engine. Loads of people have been saying the same thing as you, and I noticed a few unwanted redirects myself even though I'm not on Windows (guffaws from Gawdzilla and Bobbo, I know). It seems to have been cleared now. (I shouldn't have said that).

I don't get the fuss over George Michael. It's as though the journalists were unprepared for his death and simply re-reported his ex-manager's press release, without fact checking anything, because it was Christmas. He certainly didn't sell 100 million albums. In reality he wasn't signed to any label for 10 years because of his fight with Sony Records.

The journalists then said what a brilliant song writer he was and gave "Last Christmas" as his best song. The problem was Barry Manilow wrote it as "Can't Smile without you" and Barry successfully sued George Michael for copyright infringement.

The resently deseest tend to get a break for bad stuff and extra credit for good. Lasts till sumwun rites a book.

Wiki tellz the lawsoot this way:

On behalf of the songwriters, Christian Arnold, David Martin, and Geoff Morrow, publishing company Dick James Music sued George Michael for plagiarism in the mid-1980s claiming that the 1984 Wham! single, "Last Christmas", lifted its melody from "Can't Smile Without You". The case was settled out of court.

Manilow only recorded a version and woudnt hav any claim in the suit.

The publishing is actually owned by Universal Music Publishers, who bought DJM Publishers in the 80's. but my point remains valid. George Michael did not write "Last Christmas". The court case was between Universal Music (DJM catalogue) and Warner Chappell Music Publishers

If you swapped from glasses to wearing a monocle, you would look more dashing. Additionally, if ever Hogan's Heroes is remade, you would have a better chance of being cast as Colonel Klink. :D

What happened to the script?

Scene~ the sun setting over to
mountains ~ *the desert still in
the recesses of your mind* shades
of grey purple cloud the sky as fright
strikes the hearts of the
witnesses.

I enters ~
"I came to crush the head of the
serpent of old"

Cut!!!!!!!!!
Where's the script?
Where are the others?

I stands off to the right ~
gotta hate it when society fails
to act out a simple scene .
After all ~ what else was society
created for other than to entertain
the slaves? LoL

Oooo I almost forgot this one

Our Father who art
in heaven.
The word art means draw and draw means to gather rather than create.
You draw the information then put it on paper or something. A musician draws information to create music. The Father is disappointed that you take credit
for the information sent to you. Then you have the nerve to sell it.
Fight over who wrote it. Die for it.
Create lawyers to say it's yours .
How far will you go to claim ownership of God's gifts? He gives
you talent so you can SHARE not
torture each other with them.
To be or not to be?
To believe or
Not to believe?
To be live or
Not to be live?
To exist or
Not to exist?
What was the question?
