It signals sexual receptivity by the female. Humans have lost most of their external signals because human females are always in estrus. Other primates are seasonal, and benefit from overt signals.

Too vague. Clarify what you are talking about.

Soooooo..... N.S.W. has just had its two hottest days, ever, in a three day heatwave. The peak temperature was at an inland airport, where it reached 48 Celsius ( 118 F). Naturally bushfires eliminated a couple small villages. So far, no deaths.

One strange story was about baby fruit bats suffering heatstroke and falling out of trees, causing a call on the radio for people to come and rescue baby fruit bats. ( It was too far away otherwise I would have gone myself)

Another strange image was five or so rural fire trucks herding cows into a waterhole with a bush fire burning behind them

What was nice, was that electricity consumption was reaching maximum output, so the state government asked citizens to volunteer to turn off all unnecessary power devices and slightly increase the thermostats on their air-conditioners which apparently most people did. The government also asked the larger aluminium smelters to power down, which was interesting as the public discovered smelters use roughly 10% of all state power production.

Too vague. Clarify what you are talking about.

Too vague? Structurally, the ONLY issue subject to (reasonable) challenge is "human females are always in estrus." I've never heard/read this discussed...............I just read the dictionary...... and have dated human females.

:( My condolences. But for what it's worth, the spinach would have eventually died anyway.

Don't silver beet around the bush. What are you trying to say? :D

I can never get English spinach to grow. However, I am the king of silver beet. The problem is that Nigella Lawson insists on using English spinach. Amanda watches Nigella Lawson.

Estrus: Applies to nonhuman mammals: a state or period of heightened sexual arousal and activity ((That is from my simple web based hot keyed dictionary.

Human females properly have a menstrual cycle year round or "all the time" rather than come into heat once a year. I'll take your phrase and correct it: Just because she will have sex with you, or can have sex with you, doesn't mean she is in estrus..... (but she might be just on the verge of dropping an egg!)
