Are skirts the next men’s fashion trend?

Are skirts the next men’s fashion trend?
NY Post

In an era during which rules seem meant to be broken — and more and more people are calling for gender equality — it should surprise no one that the fashion world is the head cheerleader for change. Case in point: the Fall 2018 Menswear designers presenting a variety of skirts on their runways. ...

Here's a sample:
meninskirtstrend.jpg

Not "cross dressing" or at all effeminate, but really really dorky looking. And the models are guys who would absolutely rock a conventional business suit.

If trousers are to be passé, how about reviving doublets and hose?

I really don't think there is natural or innate gender to any style of clothing. I think we could go back in time and find both men and women wearing exactly the same sorts of things., just maybe not at the same time.

Today, women are culturally pushed to wear make up and have display clothing while men are a bit more subdued. However I think I could go back in time and find endless examples when it was the other way around.

However I have a gut feeling, it was probably men who most "dressed fancy" as some sort of connection to sexual displays.

Oh no, I'm not going back to wearing skirts. I haven't shaved my legs in years, and I'm not about to start doing that again!

Skirts are better in a hot climate than pants or shorts. A banana hammock is even better, but ... skirts ... the limits of fashion.

Because Amanda, my partner, is five months pregnant, she is wearing paisley mumus.

No one warned me about that.

Dudes. Men have always worn frocks or skirts. It's to let the bag boys breathe.

The only times trousers have been invented is really cold places, or places where riding horses was important.

Recently, trousers became a sign of wealth. It means you can afford to ride a horse. It became a gangsta fashion like giant gold chains. Then women wanted in on the game and adopted riding heels, too!

I wish I could wear a nice, light, breezy summer cotton frock down here in the blasting summer heat, and not get weird looks in the office.

No one thinks that kilts in Scotland are weird, or sarongs in tropical climates. Personally, I prefer shorts in the heat, because they separate sweaty body parts from other sweaty body parts, thus avoiding chafing. (Pro Tip: If you're going to wear a skirt in the heat, apply a bit of antiperspirant to both inner thighs. Ta-da! No chafing.)

Doesn't archaeology suggest that skirts were men's first fashion trend?

I'll wear a leisure suit before wearing a skirt. If I'm forced to wear skirts...I'll have to insist on fishnets to go with them.

And no...I won't shave my legs.

I told my girlfriend this, and she said she has to gouge out her mind's eye with a spoon.

Skirts are..........STOOPID. Even on the women. My favorite: freezing cold and snow on the ground. Women walking on sidewalk all bundled up with fur coats, arctic gear, head caps, neck warmers, gloves, insulated hiking boots..........and bare legs from mid calf to ........the heavenly gates.

..........not thermally efficient.

After having put some more serious thought into this matter (about 3 seconds), I've decided if men want to wear skirts in public I don't care, with certain caveats...

Now, I'm not usually an abattoir of moral decency, but can we at least agree on no more than three inches above the knee?
