My girlfriend and I share the same car. I listen to news radio stations. She has programmed in her favourite "hits of the 60's 70's and 80's". At least once a week I suffer some awful ear worm tune in my head. Currently it's the Beach Boys "Californian girls". I will seek legal advice.

I do have an interest in ear worms and the tricks that make pop songs addictive. There are lots of tricks, but good record producers keep their tricks to themselves and they learn those tricks over years, by working with other producers as apprentices.

I think George Martin was clever, because he was experienced in comedy recordings and converted his tool box of tricks to music with the Beatles.

I can also see cycles, where a particular sort of trick pops up again and is a hit, but can't be used again for a couple decades as the trick is so obvious and over the top,

My current bought some industrial-sized, stainless-steel fan. Big-enough to fly a paraglider. The lowest setting is "Turbo-Prop".

I'm not kidding. That's what I call it, and I want to mark-out no-stepping yellow tape around the thing.

It is really interesting. It's hard to say if the music is music on its own or "atmospheric background music" like a Hollywood movie. If you see a Chinese street opera there are musicians banging cymbals and making a racket to support a narrative. The Japanese may be doing the same tradition, in a more tasteful and seemingly more musical way.

In Hollywood films, they show American natives banging away on drums with a identifiable beat. I thought that was real. It isn't. It was artistic license. It was hitting the drums that was important to make a sound and no music existed at all.

Why would anyone in the world play a two neck guitar mixing a bass and a guitar?

1) If you wanted to play a lead break, you'd have to stop playing the accompanying bass rhythm,
2) You end up with curvature of the spine,
3) The International Criminal Fashion Courts would put a warrant out for your arrest.
4) The "instrument" would cost a fortune, just so people could laugh at you.
