Calling all Doom and Gloom Lovers

Postby Tom Palven » Thu Mar 29, 2018 11:05 am

This is history in the making according to David Stockman. It is solid, unrelenting, doom and gloom, and it is really long!

A possible fly in the ointment that Stockman failed to mention is that North and South Korea may be on an unstoppable journey to peace:

He is right that the massive deficit spending budget will hurt future American taxpayers with compounded interests - and it is utterly unnecessary from an economic standpoint.
Only Obama borrowed on a similar scale, and only to save the banking sector and car manufactures.

One thing we can be certain of: when the next recession hits, it will be the GOP that will complain most loudly about borrowing money to alleviate the crisis.

1.
Accordingly, if China were to threaten the US militarily, the resulting embargo on Chinese goods would cause its economy to plunge into a thundering collapse within six months: To wit, America’s spacious closets are already stuffed full of enough junk from China---including every variety of Apple device---to last for years, while China’s debt-ridden production chain on the margin survives hand-to-mouth on export orders.
Yeah...but...its not just consumer goods that China provides the USA. Its just about every hard good there is? I don't see China threatening USA militarily. Why do that when they are beating us economically? And after China being plunged into economic chaos ... how long before USA follows right along? What China will do militarily is whatever it wants to do and rightfully expect USA to do nothing in return: aka: just look at North Korea.

2.
The entire case against Iran has been concocted by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and the coalition of right-wing parties upon which his rule depends. They claim the Tehran regime is an existential threat to Israel’s survival, but that’s ridiculous when they have upwards of 100 nukes and the Iranians have none, and when the Israeli air force has the capacity to turn Iran’s limited attack forces into a smoldering heap of twisted metal on a moment’s notice.
Yeah...but...the threat/harm from Iran is not military....but civil/religious unrest/terror attacks. 100 Nukes haven't stopped 3-4 major ground attacks from its nearest neighbors. Hard to tell who is more making the Middle East the cesspool it is today: Iran or the House of Saud.

I'd like Stockman to resolve these two statements: A: The fact is, Iran is not a terrorist state-

B: In that context, the main reason Iran supplies Hezbollah with arms is to deter a US/Israel attack;

3.
Yet it cannot be stated strongly enough: Iran proposes no military threat to the American homeland whatsoever
Yeah...but...the threat is to American hegemonic empire. Stockman again totally misses the point.....so blatantly...why?===>"its (ie Iran's) religious and political quarrel with the Saudis is absolutely none of Washington’s business." So, what we have here is dueling extremists: Military Interventionists vs Complete Isolationist. ........ aka: silly.

4.
The truth of the matter is that a unilateral US military attack on Iran would be tantamount to a war crime
Is THAT in the cards? Before or after we do nothing re North Korea??? Is the truth between two lies...or elsewhere??

A part of me wants that to happen soon. Sick, I know.....but it’s important to show the people what they voted for.
A joke going around Moscow during The Great Terror:

The NKVD knocks on a door.
The inhabitants ask who it is.
“NKVD.”

The more we talk about recession, the less likely it is to happen.
The reverse is also true.
