Wind, wind, baby!

Postby Gord » Fri Mar 10, 2017 7:00 pm

To quote an unrelated website:

...Cameron Beccario’s website titled Earth.

The website is a near real-time visualization of global weather conditions forecast by supercomputers. It vividly captures the intricate and dramatic swirling patterns of wind streamlines, which are reminiscent of impressionistic-style oil paintings.

Beccario’s project began with a wind map of Tokyo, where he lives, and he then took on the world. You can see his animated creation at earth.nullschool.net.

You gotta check this thing out, it is amazing.

One day we will wake up and realise that it is all over – that Trump was just passing wind… or that he was just an ass in the wind – smelly, obnoxious, but finally gone.

That's a gorgeous planet with gorgeous wind. There's a swirling vortex centered on Stamford, CT right now. :)

You'll notice the quote marks. They're used for quotes. Quotes are things other people say that you're repeating.

Here's the website for the Deep Space Climate Observatory. It takes full-Earth pictures every two hours or so from its position at the Sun-Earth L1 Lagrange point.

>>>>> https://epic.gsfc.nasa.gov/ <<<<<

For reference sake, here is an image representing where the Lagrange points are:

Image

The Sun-Earth L1 Lagrange point is between the Earth and the Sun, so it is always taking images of the side of the planet the Sun is currently illuminating. (Otherwise it would be taking pictures of the dark side!)

I spent some time trying to get it to display a later date, which the `about` says it will do, but no success. Maybe the cameraman is busy running between those L points. :?
